Director: Karthik Subbaraj
Producer: Kathiresan
Banner: Five Star Films
Music: Santhosh Narayanan
Story:
Jigarthanda is the story of an aspiring
young director, Karthi Subramaniam [Siddharth]. Karthi sets the stage to
make a rustic gangster film in Madurai backdrop, apparently shifts his
base along with his friend Oorni [Karuna Karan]. Before he start working
on his ideas to pen the gangster script, the duo performs a case study
on the ferocious local goon Sethu [Simhaa]. What happens next is
something to watch out on big screens.
Performances:
Siddharth will not
disappoint you. He does his role with ease. Both the looks, whether it
may be innocent side or his thrashing attitude, gelled well wtih the
script.
Lakshmi Menon did justice to her small role.
Simhaa steals the show.
He befits the role as a mean guy with rugged look and hair style. He
comes as a bang underplaying other artists in few scenes. His evil
laughs are a treat to watch and brings few chuckles on your face.
Karunakaran is at his usual best, a
perfect comedian on board. Piraisudan, Soundar Raja and other cameos are
interestingly placed.

Technical Analysis:
Karthik Subbaraj takes the credits for
all that belonging to Jigarthanda. Script plays the lead role in the
movie. The director scores for perfect screenplay, choice of cast and
crew and what not.
Santosh Narayanan proved his hands on
composing music. The new guy has provided a ravishing background score
that gel well with all the frames.
Watch Jigarthanda for Gavemic U Ary's
camera works. The man who proved his mettle in Dhanush's Mariyaan, shot
all the frames to excellent in Jigarthanda.
Vivek Harshan's editing is okay according to story line. It could be crisp, especially in the second half.
Analysis:
Jigarthanda is an accertion of divergent
script, classy perfomances, beautiful screenply and reassuring
background scores. The movie is shot to excellence with timely comedy
and twists that keeps you hooked to the screens.
Best part of Jigarthanda is it doesn't
bank on an individual and has equal importance to all the characters in
the film. Firstly, never leave after watching the first half of
Jigarthanda, second half offers you much more twists.
Jigarthanda is an intense experimental
film on making a movie. This film sleeves you the new shades of the
artists in the later part to what you have seen in the first half.
Final Verdict: A perfect Film that is as tasty as Jigarthanda...
