Amala Paul has done a meaty role. Sarathkumar's cameo as a CBI officer is impressive.
Technical Analysis:
Samuthirakani lacks with a fresh script,
as Nimirndhu Nil revolves around corruption. The director who is known
for characterizations and narrating never discussed social messages with
well packed entertainers like Nadodigal and Porali, just managed to
keep audiences hooked with his dialogues and performances.
GV Prakash Kumar composed NN album is entertaining, but failed to gel with the plot, hence acted as speed breakers.
Analysis:
'Corruption' is a tried-and-tested
formula in Tamil cinema and Samuthirakani's Nimirnthu Nil is similar to
those as Sivaji Ganesan’s Parasakthi, Shankar directed Vikram's Anniyan
or Rajinikanth’s Sivaji. Only difference is the reliable presentation
and dialogues by Samuthirakani.
Thought provoking questions by Gopinath
and sarcastic comments by Soori are highlights in the movie. At the same
time director has to be lauded for bringing out various performances
such as bold and innocent, attentive and guileful man from Jayam Ravi.
Nimirndhu Nil first half is engaging
compared to the second half that is stuffed with unwanted commercial
elements including three songs.
Final Verdict: One more One-man mission against corruption...
